Wheelhouse Community Bike Shop is proud to announce that its Women on a Roll program is the recipient of a 2020 Three Rivers Community Foundation grant. 3 Rivers Community Foundation is a local community foundation that creates opportunities for perpetual charitable giving in Benton and Franklin counties to support nonprofits now, and in the future. They focus on grant to serve the immediate and long-term charitable needs of the community.
The Women on a Roll program is designed to educate women on bicycling safety, skills, and mechanics. These hands-on classes focus on creating bicycling confidence and competence in the participants.
Entering its third year, the program received this grant to provide 2 Women on a Roll sessions to targeted community partner groups serving at risk women. The program will be housed in the community partner group’s location allowing these women easier access. The funds will allow participants to receive a refurbished bicycle and accessories from Wheelhouse as part of the program.
Currently the program management are working with community organizations to schedule and finalize the curriculum. Other Women on a Roll sessions open to all women will be scheduled in the next few weeks so watch the calendar.
The program management is thankful to Three Rivers Community Foundation for their confidence in our program and their support of the organization.
